Business
Prime Medicine, Inc. (PRME) develops gene editing therapies using its proprietary Prime Editing platform, a next-generation technology that enables precise search-and-replace DNA modifications without double-strand breaks to treat genetic diseases across hematology, immunology and oncology, liver, and lung therapeutic areas. The company offers a pipeline of investigational programs including PM359, an ex vivo autologous hematopoietic stem cell therapy delivered via electroporation for p47phox chronic granulomatous disease (CGD) currently in Phase 1/2 trials under the Prime-0101 study and holding rare pediatric and orphan drug designations from the U.S. FDA; in vivo lipid nanoparticle (LNP)-delivered Prime Editors for Wilson's Disease and Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency (AATD), with PM647 nominated as the AATD development candidate in August 2025; LNP/AAV Prime Editors incorporating PASSIGE technology for cystic fibrosis; and ex vivo CAR-T cell products incorporating PASSIGE for immunology and oncology indications. Prime Medicine operates primarily in the United States, targeting patients with debilitating genetic disorders through one-time curative therapies. Founded in 2019 and headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts, the company recently entered a strategic license and broad collaboration agreement with Bristol Myers Squibb in September 2024 to develop and commercialize ex vivo T-cell Prime Editor products with up to $3.5 billion in potential value; secured up to $15 million from the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in January 2024 to advance cystic fibrosis programs; appointed Matthew Hawryluk, Ph.D., M.B.A., as Chief Business Officer in November 2025 to bolster strategic partnerships; narrowed its pipeline from 18 to four core preclinical and clinical programs focused on high-value liver and lung diseases; and completed a financing round extending its cash runway while presenting new preclinical data for Wilson's Disease PM577 at the AASLD meeting in late 2025.
