Business
Vermilion Energy Inc. is an international oil and gas producer focused on the acquisition, exploration, development and optimization of producing properties, primarily liquids-rich natural gas assets in Canada; conventional natural gas in Europe; and low-decline oil properties. The company generates a diversified product portfolio including natural gas (approximately 65-70% of production), crude oil and natural gas liquids, with operations concentrated in core regions of North America (Alberta's Deep Basin, West Pembina, Montney, Peace River Arch and Saskatchewan/Manitoba), Europe (France, Netherlands and Germany) and previously Australia and the United States. Founded in 1994 and headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Vermilion delivers value through global commodity price exposure, low production decline rates and capital-efficient projects targeting industrial, power generation and LNG export markets. Vermilion recently completed the C$1.075 billion acquisition of Westbrick Energy in Q1 2025, adding 50,000 boe/d of liquids-rich gas production (75% gas, 25% liquids), 1.1 million net acres, four operated gas plants and substantial reserves in Alberta's Deep Basin, its largest producing area, while financing through credit facilities, term loans and bridge funding to enhance scale, margins and free cash flow exceeding C$110 million annually. In November 2025, the company announced the divestiture of its United States assets for US$88 million, streamlining its portfolio to emphasize higher-return North American and European gas operations and adjusting 2025 capital expenditures to $630-660 million. Q3 2025 results showed production averaging 119,062 boe/d (67% gas), cost reductions, a 2026 budget of $415 million for 49 Deep Basin and Montney wells, and a 4% dividend increase, reflecting over 40% production-per-share growth and 30% capital efficiency improvements post-repositioning.
