Business
Ultralife Corporation designs, manufactures, installs, and maintains mission-critical power, communication, and electronics systems worldwide. Headquartered in Newark, New York, the company was founded in 1990, originally as Ultralife Batteries, Inc., evolving from Kodak's Ultra Technologies battery division, and operates through two primary segments: Battery & Energy Products and Communications Systems. The Battery & Energy Products segment provides lithium 9-volt batteries, cylindrical and thin lithium manganese dioxide cells, rechargeable lithium-ion and lithium polymer batteries, custom battery packs, multi-kilowatt module lithium-ion battery systems, uninterruptible power supplies, rugged military and commercial battery charging systems including smart chargers and multi-bay systems, and various accessories such as cables; the Communications Systems segment offers radio frequency amplifiers, power supplies and cables, connector assemblies, amplified speakers, equipment mounts, man-portable systems, integrated communication systems for fixed or vehicle applications including vehicle amplifier-adaptors, power enhanced rifleman appliqué systems, and SATCOM systems, all designed to enhance and extend military, government, and public safety communications equipment. Products are sold under brands including Ultralife, Ultralife HiRate, Ultralife Thin Cell, Lithium Power, McDowell Research, AMTI, ABLE, ACCUTRONICS, ACCUPRO, ENTELLION, SWE Southwest Electronic Energy Group, SWE SEASAFE, Excell Battery Group, Criterion Gauge, and POW-R BMS to government, defense, medical, oil and gas, industrial, robotics, IoT, safety and security customers via original equipment manufacturers, distributors, retail chains, and online retailers. Ultralife maintains manufacturing and operations in North America including the US and UK, Europe, Asia including China and India, with a direct sales and distribution network serving global markets. Recent developments include the completion of the acquisition of Electrochem Solutions, Inc. on October 31, 2024, adding highly-engineered thionyl chloride, sulfuryl chloride, and bromine chloride cells and packs to enhance cross-selling, revenue growth, and gross margins through vertical integration and supply chain synergies; entry into a new Credit and Security Agreement with KeyBank National Association, M&T Bank, and Community Bank to finance the transaction and support ongoing operations; and continued revenue growth to $142.7 million for the first nine months of fiscal 2025, driven by strong performance in battery and energy products comprising about 77% of Q3 2025 revenue.
